Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into 1-inch chunks
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Place the chopped apple chunks into the slow cooker basin. Drizzle the lemon juice over the apples and toss them gently to ensure every piece is coated.
  2. Pour the pure maple syrup over the fruit. Sprinkle the cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt evenly across the top, then stir until the apples are glistening and spices are evenly distributed.
  3. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and cook on High for 3-4 hours or on Low for 8 hours, until apples are translucent and soft.
  4. For a rustic, chunky consistency, use a potato masher to break down the fruit directly in the pot. For a velvety finish, use an immersion blender until the sauce is completely smooth.
