Ingredients:
- 3 lbs peeled and cored apples
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and dice the apples into uniform 1-inch chunks to ensure even cooking.
- Place the diced apples, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt into the slow cooker.
- Stir gently to ensure the spices are evenly distributed throughout the fruit.
- Cover and cook on High for 6 hours or Low for 8-10 hours, until the apples are translucent and fall apart easily with a fork.
- Turn off the heat. For a chunky texture, mash the apples with a potato masher; for a smooth finish, blend with an immersion blender for 30 seconds.
- Adjust the consistency by stirring in a tablespoon of water if the sauce is too thick.
