Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs peeled and cored apples
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into uniform 1-inch chunks to ensure even cooking.
  2. Place the diced apples, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt into the slow cooker.
  3. Stir gently to ensure the spices are evenly distributed throughout the fruit.
  4. Cover and cook on High for 6 hours or Low for 8-10 hours, until the apples are translucent and fall apart easily with a fork.
  5. Turn off the heat. For a chunky texture, mash the apples with a potato masher; for a smooth finish, blend with an immersion blender for 30 seconds.
  6. Adjust the consistency by stirring in a tablespoon of water if the sauce is too thick.
