Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups warm water (105°F-115°F)
  • 2.25 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.5 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Combine 1.5 cups warm water, 2.25 tsp instant yeast, and 1 tbsp granulated sugar in your mixer bowl. Wait for a foamy layer to appear on top to ensure your yeast is alive.
  2. Whisk in 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 1.5 tsp fine sea salt, and 1 tsp garlic powder. Mixing the aromatics into the liquid ensures they are distributed evenly throughout the entire batch.
  3. Add 4 cups all purpose flour one cup at a time while mixing on low speed. Cook until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead by hand for 5 minutes. Knead until the surface looks smooth and bounces back when poked.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and set in a warm spot.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Wait until the oven is fully up to temperature for at least 20 minutes.
  7. Punch the dough down and divide into two balls. Gently stretch each into a 12 inch circle. Stretch until the center is translucent when held to the light.
  8. Top as desired and bake for 10 minutes. Bake until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are charred and golden.
