Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (21 oz / 595g each) apple pie filling
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold and cubed unsalted butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x9 inch square baking dish or pie plate with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Empty both cans of apple pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly with a spatula. Stir in the ground cinnamon if using a deeper spice profile.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
  4. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or forks to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse wet sand with some pea-sized lumps.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple filling, keeping the topping loose rather than pressing it down.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the filling is bubbling vigorously around the edges and the topping is deep golden brown.
