Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet (480g) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 large (50g) egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp (8g) cinnamon sugar
  • 2 cups (440g) canned apple pie filling
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) milk
  • 1/4 tsp (1ml) vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the thawed puff pastry onto the parchment paper. Use a pizza cutter to divide the pastry into 8 equal squares. Lightly score a smaller square inside each piece (about 1/2 inch from the edge) without cutting all the way through.
  3. Spoon 2-3 tablespoons (30-45g) of apple pie filling into the center of each square, pushing it slightly to create a well. Gently pinch the corners of the pastry toward the center to secure the filling.
  4. Brush the exposed edges of the pastry with the beaten egg wash and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the apple filling.
  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes until the pastry is puffed and deep golden-brown and the filling is bubbling.
  6. While danishes cool slightly, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze in a zigzag pattern over each warm pastry.
